Rihanna has been know to wear her mane in long ringlets curls but she is best know for her choppy bob cuts.  This style was inspired by Rihanna.  This models hair was cut in an asymmetrical bob with the intention for length on the right side.  Just for fun I added a splash of blue to pump this style up.  By adding color this gave the cut a unique personality.  Instead of curling the bangs flat I had some fun and flipped them back.  I love to be creative when it comes to this type of styling.  Credits: Ashieka E Photography, Hair Stylist Ashieka Daniels

This updo was inspired by the artist Ledisi.  Want I wanted to create was a bit more height in the crown of the head.  This model had natural hair in which I manipulated to give the feel of regal elegance.  Her hair was highlighted an auburn color to add more depth. I had so much fun on my photo shoot yesterday!  Wow!  From start to finish it was a packed day.  I was honored to have some of the most beautiful women model for me.  Thank you Tye, Kiarra, Ki Ki, and Shaton you made this shoot a major success!  You guys really know how to work the camera.  Well where do I begin.....We started Wednesday morning with hair followed by makeup.  The ladies got dressed and we were ready to hit the streets.  Oh if you didn't know I also do photography (just thought I'd add that info). I like to look for interesting locations to shoot that will compliment the model, their attire and hair. From 10am -7pm we worked and worked and worked.  I woke up at 2am so excited to see the images that I just started editing, editing ,editing, editing.  And now I have the final results.  Here are a couple shoot we took yesterday.  Photographer Ashieka E Photography and Hair Stylist Ashieka Daniels. More images can be found on my Facebook Fan Page "Stylist Ashieka Daniels"  

Photo Shoot With Nicolette Stanton and Knotty Loops

Yesterday I had the opportunity to style 3 models hair for a photo shoot for Knotty Loops Clothing.  The photographer Nicolette Stanton has a great eye to capture soft angle of her subject.  This was also my first time working with Jill and Stacy which are two of Chicago's Top Make Up Artist.  I can't wait to have another shot at this!  I enjoyed getting to know others in the beauty industry and look forward to working with these beautiful ladies again.

Split Ends By Stylist Ashieka Daniels

Here is a helpful tip that Hair Stylist can use when addressing clients with split ends.  First we need to understand as Hair Stylist we may need to be more sensitive in this area for some women more than others. Many women today have split ends and don't want to get a trim for several reasons.  One may be they had a horrible experience at the salon where the hair stylist may have cut much more hair than needed.  Second, some women feel that nothing is wrong with their damaged ends.  In their mind holding on to the length of their hair is some what comforting.  Thirdly, they may not know that their ends need to be trimmed.  Which ever is the reason for their split ends you need to address them with your client as soon as possible.  Not taking proper care of their hair and prolonging clipping their ends could cause additional damage to their hair.  The best way to describe split ends is to take your pointer finger and your middle finger.  Slowly separate them.  This is the same effect your split ends have on your hair.  If not addressed our ends will continue to split up the hair shaft which in turn will cause more damage and more hair that needs to be cut.  My best advice is to clip your clients ends on a regular bases.  For some 8 to 12 weeks would work perfectly.  For those who have extreme damage caused from improper hair care, getting a full hair cut may be the only option.  For those who feel a full hair cut is to drastic you can trim the hair gradually until all the damaged split ends are gone.  Hope this short tip helps. If you have any questions you would like answered please send them in.
